UMSL junior Joshua McCoy has been one of the best players on the men's basketball team since transferring from Cleveland State University this year. KSDK featured him in a recent news segment.

Joshua McCoy is “a hometown kid looking to put the team on the map,” according to KSDK (Channel 5). The team is the University of Missouri–St. Louis Tritons. McCoy, who prepped at Fort Zumwalt South in St. Peters, Mo., has led the men’s basketball team in assists and steals and is second in points per game since transferring this year from Cleveland State University.

KSDK sports reporter and alumnus Frank Cusumano, BA communication 1984, discussed in a news segment the importance of UMSL adding McCoy to its team.

“UMSL has to have a Division I talent like McCoy to win in the best Division II Conference in the country,” Cusumono said.

UMSL is currently 4-3 and tied with Rockhurst University (Kansas City, Mo.) for first in the West Division of the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a 2-0 GLVC record.
