An estimated 100,000 people waving American flags, lined Market Street in St. Louis Saturday for the nation’s first welcome home parade for veterans of the Iraq War. More than 600 veterans marched, acknowledging the applause and thanks from the crowd. UMSL students filled the university’s float and other students, staff, faculty and alumni marched alongside one of more than 100 entries in the parade, including (from left) Ashley Atkins, Jack Simons, Danielle Benson, Evelyn Dunbar, Timothy Makubuya, Emily Donaldson, Matt Kaskowitz and Svetlana Kogans.
