After helping the University of Missouri–St. Louis Tritons to a pair of victories last week, freshman Nils Mueggenburg was named Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week.

Mueggenburg went 2-0 at No. 1 singles, posting a 4-6, 6-1, 10-6 victory over Maryville University’s (Town and Country, Mo.) Alexis de Villeneuve and a 7-6, 6-4 win over Truman State University’s (Kirksville, Mo.) Eric McCollough. With the two wins, he ran his win streak to five matches while improving to 10-3 on the season.

In doubles play, Mueggenburg teamed with freshman Marius Schumacher to post two wins at the No. 1 spot, defeating Maryville University’s de Villeneuve and Jesse Fortune, 8-5, and Truman State University’s McCullough and Mark Sturley, 8-0. Mueggenburg is 11-5 overall in doubles.
