Sophomore Joe Atkisson led the University of Missouri–St. Louis men’s golf team with a scoring average of 75.88 this season, while earning a bid to the NCAA Midwest/South Central Regional. His excellent season has led to him being named to the NCAA Division II PING Midwest All-Region team.

An All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honoree, Atkisson recorded six top-10 finishes during the 2011-12 campaign, including a ninth place finish at the GLVC Championship, shooting a 232 (77-75-80). His top finish was a tie for sixth at the Great Lakes Regional No. 4, where he shot a 151 (76-75), while his lowest score of 142 (71-71) came at the Northern Kentucky Spring Classic. He tied for seventh place in that tournament.

Atkisson also swept the UMSL men’s golf team awards, winning the Ron Brewer MVP, David Rhoads Scholar-Athlete Award and Jim Niederkorn Endowed Scholarship. In the classroom, the sophomore international business major earned Academic All-GLVC accolades for the second straight season.
