MADCO’s 36th season opener is being heralded as a “choreographic coming out” of the amazing artists behind the dance company in residence at the University of Missouri–St. Louis.

The season will open on Sept. 14-15 with the performance “Outburst.”

The entire program will consist of very personal pieces, created entirely by MADCO dancers Monica Alunday, Vance Baldwin, Jason Flodder, Lindsay Hawkins, Claire Hilleren and Jennifer Reilly in partnership with lighting designer Kim Klearman, costume designer Felia Davenport and set designer Glen Anderson.

MADCO will perform in the E. Desmond and Mary Ann Lee Theater at the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center at UMSL starting the evening of Sept. 14, followed by a day and night performance Sept. 15.

If you’ve ever seen a MADCO performance, you know the company’s dancers for their athletic prowess, technical skill and physical talents. “Outburst,” taps into the dancer’s “creative heads,” according to MADCO artistic director Stacy West.

“After all, what could evoke more passion and excitement for the group of tight-knit dancers in MADCO than creating and performing their own and each others creative visions” West said. “There is an entire new energy about every one of them, one that reveals insight into all their personalities.”

The performances will begin at 8 p.m. Sept. 14-15. Doors will open at 7:10 p.m. for a pre-show discussion. There will also be a performance at 2 p.m. Sept. 15. The matinee is a shortened, one-hour performance that features interactive discussions with the dancers. West will host the Saturday matinee.

Tickets to see “Outburst” at the Touhill are $12-$25. Visit touhill.org or call 314-516-4949 to order tickets.
