Each week, the Department of Athletics at the University of Missouri–St. Louis compiles a roundup of how the various UMSL Tritons teams have fared. Click on the headings below for an up-to-date look at each Tritons team.
WOMEN’S GOLF
The UMSL women’s golf team placed fifth at the 13-team Gilda’s Club Lakers Fall Invite hosted by Grand Valley State University (Grand Rapids, Mich.) last Saturday and Sunday. The Tritons shot 654 (323-331) and were led by senior Shweta Galande’s sixth place finish with a score of 156 (78-78).
MEN’S GOLF
The UMSL men’s golf team carded a 614 (317-297) on day one of the Golfweek Invitational on Monday in Bend, Ore., and sits in 13th place in the 13-team field, which features six schools ranked in the top 25. Leading the way for the Tritons is freshman David Abolt, who shot a 150 (79-71) and is tied for 36th place. The final 18 holes are being played today.
MEN’S SOCCER
The UMSL men’s soccer team ran its win streak to five games last Friday with a 1-0 overtime win at Missouri University of Science and Technology before seeing the streak end at No. 19 Drury University (Springfield, Mo.) on Sunday with a 2-1 double overtime loss. UMSL is now 6-3 on the season, including 5-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and hosts Lewis University (Romeoville, Ill.) and University of Wisconsin–Parkside this weekend.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
The UMSL women’s soccer team defeated Missouri S&T, 1-0, last Friday before suffering a 5-3 loss at Drury University on Sunday. Freshman Haley Larson scored three of the Tritons’ four goals on the weekend. UMSL is now 2-6-1 overall, and 2-5 in the GLVC and hosts Lewis University and University of Wisconsin–Parkside this weekend.
VOLLEYBALL
The UMSL volleyball team bounced back from a 3-1 loss to Missouri S&T on Friday night to defeat Drury University 3-1 on Saturday. Senior Liz Jaeger averaged 3.4 kills and 3.7 digs per set to pace the Tritons. UMSL is 5-12 overall and 4-3 in the GLVC. They travel to Bellarmine University (Louisville, Ky.) on Saturday and to McKendree University (Lebanon, Ill.) on Sunday.
MEN’S TENNIS
Sophomore Nils Mueggenburg paced the UMSL men’s tennis team at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regionals last weekend by winning opening matches in both singles and doubles, where he teamed with sophomore Tim McLarty. Also for the Tritons, junior Tim Gorter was a first round singles winner.
