Softball
The University of Missouri–St. Louis (30-5, 17-3 Great Lakes Valley Conference) went 4-2 last week, sweeping Maryville and Saint Joseph’s before dropping two to Indianapolis in a battle of the GLVC Division leaders. Junior Jena Boudreau recorded nine hits, including a grand slam against Saint Joseph’s for one of her two homeruns on the week, and added six RBIs. The UMSL Tritons will close out the home portion of its schedule on Wednesday, hosting Lindenwood before traveling to Bellarmine and Southern Indiana on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Baseball
UMSL (14-16, 12-10 GLVC) went 2-4 last week, dropping a doubleheader at Pittsburg State and falling 3-1 in a four-game series against Quincy. Junior Zach Sedlacek tossed the Tritons to a complete-game victory against Quincy on Sunday in the 2-1 win, striking out nine. The Tritons travel to Maryville on Wednesday for two games before a four-game series at Truman State on Friday and Saturday.
Men’s Tennis
UMSL (11-6, 4-1 GLVC) wrapped up GLVC play on Saturday with a 7-2 win over Rockhurst, clinching the No. 2 seed in the West Division for the GLVC Tournament, hosted by the Tritons this Friday-Sunday at Dwight Davis Tennis Center. The Tritons will close out the regular season this afternoon, hosting Lindenwood, and open GLVC Tournament action on Friday against McKendree at 9 a.m.
Women’s Tennis
UMSL (14-5, 5-1 GLVC) defeated Lindenwood, 9-0, on Thursday before taking a 7-2 decision over Rockhurst on Saturday in the GLVC finale. The Tritons will close out the regular season on Tuesday against Washington U. before beginning GLVC Tournament play on Friday. The Tritons are the No. 2 seed in the West Division and will face Bellarmine on Friday at Noon. UMSL is hosting this year’s GLVC Tournament at Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
Men’s Golf
UMSL shares the lead with Wayne State (Mich.) after the first round of action at the Purgatory Regional on Sunday. Both teams carded a 294, two strokes better than McKendree and Ashland, who are tied for third. Senior Warren Crow is in second place individually with a first round score of 70. The final 18 holes are being played today. UMSL will then begin GLVC Championship play on Sunday.
Women’s Golf
UPDATE: Women’s Golf, Hopper win titles at Triton Invitational
UMSL shot a season-best 310 on Sunday in the first round of its own Triton Invitational to lead the 14-team field. Junior Bailey Hopper is tied for first individually, shooting a 75 on her first 18 holes, while senior Daniela Viotti is tied for third place after carding a season-best 76. The final 18 holes are being played today. UMSL then returns to the links April 26-27 at the GLVC Championships.
