The UMSL Softball team finished the regular season with a 41-6 record and will begin GLVC Tournament play this weekend.

The University of Missouri–St. Louis (41-6, 26-4 Great Lakes Valley Conference) clinched the GLVC West Division title for the second straight year last week as the UMSL Tritons went 5-1 in the final week of regular season play. UMSL swept Maryville and Quincy, while splitting with Truman State. Junior Brittni Chapman went 3-0 in the circle, while junior Jena Boudreau recorded 11 hits. She hit safely in all six games to extend her hitting streak to eight games and batted .565 on the week. The Tritons travel to Peoria, Ill., this weekend for the GLVC Tournament. UMSL is the No. 2 seed and will face No. 7 seed Illinois Springfield on Friday in quarterfinal round action.

Baseball
UMSL (23-19, 19-13 GLVC) posted a 4-2 record last week. The Tritons defeated McKendree twice at home before splitting at No. 22 ranked Drury over the weekend. Freshman Jake Beckwith went 10-for-16 (.625) at the plate on the week, including 6-of-9 at Drury on Saturday, in which the Tritons won both games. Junior Zach Sedlacek tossed his third straight complete game victory in the opener against the Panthers on Saturday. UMSL will travel to Illinois Springfield on Wednesday for a single game before concluding the regular season this Saturday and Sunday with a four-game GLVC series against Missouri S&T.

Men’s Golf
UMSL earned a second place finish at the GLVC Championships last week. The Tritons finished second in stroke play and defeated McKendree (4.5 – 0.5) in the semifinals of match play before suffering a 3-2 setback to Indianapolis in the championship. Sophomore Anthony Cope earned All-GLVC honors for his tie for fourth place finish. UMSL has earned a bid to the NCAA Midwest/Central Regional. The Tritons are the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region and will host this year’s regional May 5-7 at Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka, Mo.

Women’s Golf
UMSL posted a fourth place finish at the GLVC Championships, held last weekend in Waterloo, Ill. Sophomore Tayler Hoag finished third individually to earn medalist honors, while junior Bailey Hopper was also named All-GLVC for her play throughout the season. The Tritons will compete in their fifth straight NCAA East Regional Tournament May 4-6 in Indianapolis, Ind.
