UMSL Volleyball

The UMSL Tritons volleyball team (16-11, 11-7 GLVC) will open GLVC Tournament play on Thursday against Indianapolis in the quarterfinals. UMSL is the No. 4 seed in the West Division, while UIndy is the No. 1 seed in the East.

Volleyball
The University of Missouri–St. Louis Tritons went 1-2 in the final week of the regular season, with all three matches on the road. UMSL defeated Quincy (3-1) but came up short against McKendree (3-2) and No. 24 ranked Truman State (3-1) to complete the regular season. Freshman Gina Pezze tallied a career-best 14 kills to help the Tritons defeat Quincy, while junior Lindsay Meyer added 43 assists and 23 digs. Against Truman, junior Hannah Miller tallied 12 kills, while sophomore Lexi Rogers came off the bench to tally 10 kills. The Tritons (16-11, 11-7 GLVC) will open GLVC Tournament play on Thursday against Indianapolis in the quarterfinals. Men’s Swimming
Freshman Feliz Kusnierz captured the first two individual titles of the season for UMSL men’s swimming on Saturday in Indianapolis. Kusnierz won the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.32) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:44.42). He also posted a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle, while the Tritons also had three other runner-up finishes including Matt Borges in the 200-yard breaststroke, Anson Tam in the 100-yard freestyle and the 400-yard relay of Anson, Fernando Robledo, Kusnierz and Mladen Senicar. The Triton women also competed at Indianapolis. UMSL returns to the pool Saturday at William Jewell.

Men’s Basketball
UMSL fell to Mizzou 77-54 on Saturday it its lone preseason test. Junior Kevin Swanson paced the Triton offense with 15 points while junior Tre Ogles followed with 13 points. UMSL will officially open its season on Saturday against Grand Valley Stage in the first game of the GLVC/GLIAC Challenge, hosted by Quincy. The Tritons also face Ferris State on Sunday.
