Men’s Basketball
The University of Missouri–St. Louis opened its Great Lakes Valley Conference slate with two home wins, defeating Illinois Springfield, 71-45, on Friday night before needing a game-winning free throw with 2.2 seconds to play by senior Aareon Smith to top McKendree, 71-70, on Sunday. Smith averaged 19 points, 11.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game on the weekend as UMSL improved to 7-0 at home this season. The Tritons (10-2, 2-0 GLVC) travel to No. 23 ranked Lewis on Thursday and to Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday.

Women’s Basketball
UMSL posted two wins at home last weekend in the start of GLVC play. The Tritons’ defense clamped down for a 54-34 win over Illinois Springfield on Friday night, while UMSL picked up a 66-57 victory over McKendree on Sunday. Junior point guard Amber Daly averaged 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game and scored a career-high 24 points in the win against McKendree. The Tritons (6-4, 2-0 GLVC) travel to No. 2 ranked Lewis on Thursday and Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday.
