Lawrence, Kunkel earn All-GLVC honors

Senior guard Alexis Lawrence and junior forward Kelly Kunkel of the University of Missouri–St. Louis women’s basketball team have been named to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference Second Team. Lawrence was also tabbed to the All-Defensive Team.

Lawrence, who is majoring in business administration with a finance emphasis, averaged a team-best 14.2 points per game and led the GLVC with 94 three-pointers, which ranks fifth in NCAA Division II and is the second most in an UMSL single season. She also averaged 2.6 assists, 1.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. Lawrence had 20 games with three three-pointers or more, including seven games with five or more made three-pointers.

In GLVC-only games, she connected on a league-best 60 three-pointers and ranked 17th in scoring with 12.4 points per game, while her three-point shooting percentage of 37.5 ranked 11th.

Kunkel, who is majoring in business administration with a marketing emphasis, averaged 12.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game, while shooting 47 percent from the field. She was the Tritons’ top scorer in GLVC play, averaging 13.1 points per game, which ranked 13th in league-only games. Kunkel was also 13th in GLVC play with 6.6 rebounds per game, 11th in field goal percentage (.494), including seventh in three-point field goal percentage (.404).
