The University of Missouri–St. Louis softball team slid up one spot to No. 2 in this week’s National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Poll. It marks the program’s highest-ever ranking after spending the previous six weeks at No. 3.
The Tritons received one first-place vote and tallied 374 points, while Valdosta State was nearly unanimous as it ran its hold on the No. 1 spot to six weeks with 397 points.
UMSL wrapped up the Great Lakes Valley Conference regular season title on Monday with a 2-0 win over then No. 15 ranked Southern Indiana and opens the GLVC Championship Tournament play on Friday as the No. 1 seed against No. 8 seed Rockhurst at 10 a.m.
The Tritons are one of three GLVC teams in the poll with Indianapolis checking in at No. 10 and Southern Indiana at No. 13.
