Dias named CollegeSwimming.com DII National Swimmer of the Week

The freshman business administration major collected four wins last week in two meets for the UMSL Tritons.

Freshman Diogo Dias of the University of Missouri–St. Louis men’s swimming team has been named the CollegeSwimming.com Division II Swimmer of the Week.

Dias, a business administration major, collected four wins last week in two meets for the UMSL Tritons. At the Drury Invitational on Friday and Saturday, he placed first in the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke, while also swimming the third leg on the runner-up 200-yard medley team.

Then on Sunday at the UMSL Quadrangular, Dias set a school record in winning the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:39.81, which also reached the NCAA B-standard. He also won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.50 and posted a runner-up finish in the 100-yard freestyle.

CollegeSwimming.com selects eight National Swimmers of the Week in addition to Swimmers of the Week for each of the member conferences. Dias was also selected as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com.

UMSL returns to the pool Saturday at the Lindenwood Invitational.
