UMSL Tritons weekly rewind

Senior middle blocker Lexi Rogers totaled 22 kills and hit at a .541 clip last week while leading the Tritons volleyball team to a pair of victories that pushed their win streak to six matches.

Men’s Soccer
UMSL extended its win streak to five games with shutout victories over Illinois Springfield (1-0) and McKendree (2-0) last weekend. Senior DJ Bednar scored the lone goal in the UIS win, while junior Nick Werner and senior Pim Boonstra scored against McKendree. Senior Jack Filla made a combined five saves. UMSL (5-1, 4-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference) wraps up a four-game homestand next weekend, hosting No. 3 ranked Rockhurst on Friday and William Jewell on Sunday.

Women’s Soccer
UMSL went 2-0, defeating Illinois Springfield 2-1 and McKendree 2-0. Senior Amber Daly scored the game-winner against UIS and added an assist against McKendree, while freshman Emily Rish played all 180 minutes in goal, making seven saves. UMSL (3-1, 3-1 GLVC) will host Rockhurst and William Jewell, next Friday and Sunday, respectively, to close out a four-game homestand.

Volleyball
The Tritons ran their win streak to six matches as they opened GLVC play at home with wins over Indianapolis (3-0) and Saint Joseph’s (3-1). The win over UIndy was the first since 2008. Senior Lexi Rogers averaged 3.14 kills and 1.14 blocks per set, while hitting at a .541 clip. Junior Danielle Waedekin averaged 5.57 digs per set. The Tritons (7-2, 2-0 GLVC) will travel to Lewis and Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Men’s Tennis
Sophomores Kristoffer Lindal and Rob White reached the quarterfinal round of the ITA Midwest Regionals in doubles play to highlight action for the Tritons. Lindal and White defeated sixth-seeded Nils Hoffacker and Magnus Mueller of Indianapolis, 8-6, in their opening round before fourth-seeded Sebastien Amato and Maxi Hepp of Drury knocked them out in the quarterfinals. UMSL returns to the courts on Sept. 28 to host Lindenwood-Belleville at 2 p.m.
