UMSL Tritons weekly rewind

The UMSL women’s soccer team celebrated a 3-1 victory over Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday and booked a spot in the Great Lakes Valley Conference semifinals. The Tritons will face Rockhurst on Friday in Indianapolis.

Women’s Soccer
Senior Miriam Taylor scored two goals to help lead UMSL to a 3-1 victory over Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday in the quarterfinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. Taylor’s first goal in the 79th minute was the game-winner. Sophomore McKayla Harder led off the scoring in the fifth minute with her team-leading seventh goal of the year. The Tritons (12-3-1) will play Rockhurst in Friday’s semifinals in Indianapolis.

Men’s Soccer
UMSL saw its season come to a close on Sunday with a 1-0 loss at Southern Indiana in the GLVC Tournament. The Screaming Eagles scored the lone goal in the 81st minute. The Tritons ended the year with a 10-7-1 record.

Volleyball
The Tritons lost a pair of GLVC road games last weekend, falling to Illinois Springfield (3-1) and McKendree (3-0). Junior Madyson Abeyta recorded 19 assists at UIS and 16 assists and 11 digs at McKendree. UMSL (13-10, 7-6 GLVC) begins a four-game homestand Tuesday night, hosting Lindenwood in nonconference play. The Tritons then welcome Southern Indiana and Bellarmine on Friday and Saturday, respectively, in league play.
