The aqua-colored circle in the center of the planet-like orbs, aka light fixtures, is a window high up in the main hallway of the UMSL Patient Care Center. Made of dichromatic glass, it changes color depending on how the sunlight hits it at different times of day. Those who work and study inside the new facility have seen its hues range from blues and greens to red, orange and brown.

This photograph was taken by UMSL photographer August Jennewein and is the latest to be featured in Eye on UMSL.
