UMSL Tritons weekly rewind

Volleyball
UMSL dropped a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference matches on the road last weekend, falling in five sets at AVA Division I Top 25 vote-getter Rockhurst on Friday and losing a 3-1 decision at Drury on Saturday. Redshirt sophomore Maddy Russell led the Tritons with 2.89 kills and 1.44 digs per set while hitting at a .313 mark. UMSL (9-3, 2-2 GLVC) wraps up a four-match road swing at Quincy on Tuesday before returning home to play host to third-ranked Lewis on Friday and Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday.

Men’s Soccer
The Tritons struck first Friday night but watched Lewis answer with two others in a home loss on Friday. They followed it up with a 1-1 double overtime draw against Illinois Springfield on Sunday. Senior Nick Werner and freshman Samed Ganibegovic accounted for UMSL’s two goals on the weekend. The Tritons (3-3-2, 3-2-1 GLVC) next play at Quincy on Friday and Truman State on Sunday.

Women’s Soccer
UMSL lost a 2-1 decision to Lewis on Friday as the Flyers scored in the final 75 seconds to pick up the victory. Illinois Springfield then blanked the Tritons 1-0 on Sunday despite UMSL finishing with an 11-3 advantage in shots. Junior Lexi Norton had the Tritons’ goal Friday night. UMSL (2-5-1, 1-5 GLVC) visits Quincy on Friday and Truman State on Sunday.

Women’s Tennis
Junior Jennifer Hauer advanced to the Round of 32 in singles and to the quarterfinals in doubles with sophomore Marina Prediger to highlight action for the Tritons at the ITA Regionals, held Friday through Sunday. UMSL will play host to Saint Louis University at 2 p.m. Friday.
