A new academic year means new faces on campus – and not just new students. The University of Missouri–St. Louis introduced more than 20 new full-time faculty members to the university community this August during a two-day new faculty orientation organized by the Center for Teaching and Learning.

The orientation centered on student success and kicked-off with an introduction of current students who shared their UMSL experiences during roundtable discussions. Faculty also explored areas ranging from campus safety to classroom technology – even taking a deep dive in to tools such as Canvas and Google Apps for Education.

The orientation is more than just a review of the university’s policies and procedures. Andy Goodman, director of the CTL, said it is an opportunity to ensure new faculty have the tools and supports needed to enhance the teaching and learning environment at UMSL.
