Chelsea Martinez delivered a walk-off, two-out single to lift UMSL to a 1-0 win over Indianapolis in the GLVC Tournament championship game Sunday, giving the Tritons the fifth conference title in program history. They will host an NCAA Regional this week and begin national tournament play against Illinois Springfield on Thursday.

Softball
UMSL won the program’s fifth Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament championship on Sunday, defeating No. 12 Indianapolis 1-0 on a walk-off, two-out RBI single from senior Chelsea Martinez in the championship game. Martinez also helped send the Tritons to that title game the day before, belting a two-run home run in the 10th inning of a 2-0 victory also over Indianapolis. Behind the pitching of senior Carly Kingery and junior Andee Tiffee, UMSL allowed just two runs in four games in the tournament, limiting its opponents to a combined .110 batting average. The Tritons (35-17) will host an NCAA Regional this week, opening play Thursday against Illinois Springfield at 2:30 p.m. The regional tournament will run Thursday through Saturday at the UMSL Softball Field.

Baseball
The Tritons wrapped up the 2019 season last weekend with three losses at William Jewell. Redshirt junior Koltyn Schilly went 5 for 14 at the plate with three runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases, while freshman Brandon Olion and redshirt junior Derrick Freeman had four hits each.
