The University of Missouri–St. Louis is partnering with the St. Louis County Department of Public Health to serve as a COVID-19 vaccination site beginning Friday and running through the end of July.
The Department of Public Health will be offering both the Pfizer and the Johnson & Johnson vaccines at the site on the third floor of the Millennium Student Center. The clinic will operate on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30 to 6 p.m. and on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
St. Louis County is prepared to administer as many as 250 vaccinations per day at UMSL. Walk-ins are welcome, and appointments are available at stlcorona.com.
“The University of Missouri–St. Louis is committed to being a good community partner and supporting the health and well-being of our neighbors, and we are glad to be able to do that by partnering with the St. Louis County Department of Public Health to serve as a vaccination site,” Chancellor Kristin Sobolik said. “We encourage everyone in the UMSL community and our neighbors to get vaccinated.”
North St. Louis County continues to be one of the parts of the region hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic, so the Department of Public Health is eager to add another location where north county residents can easily obtain a vaccine.
“Getting the COVID-19 vaccine is the safest and quickest way to protect St. Louis County families and help our communities return to normal. These new sites are critical for the county to continue to expand vaccine access to every eligible resident,” St. Louis County Executive Dr. Sam Page said. “We are grateful to all of our neighbors who have gotten the COVID-19 vaccine, and we urge anyone who hasn’t been vaccinated to do so to protect themselves and their loved ones. If you have questions about the vaccine or how to access it, our incredible St. Louis County staff is available to help.”
UMSL previously hosted vaccine clinics put on by the Department of Public Health, the Missouri National Guard, the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services on Feb. 17 and March 13. Those clinics were by appointment only but still delivered shots to more than 2,000 people each day.
Students in UMSL’s College of Nursing volunteered at those clinics and have been pitching in to help distribute vaccines at other clinics across the region since February.
