Eye on UMSL: Show Me Literacies Summer Institute

Teachers from different schools across the St. Louis region gathered in grade-level groups in the courtyard outside the J.C. Penney Conference Center to share literacy strategies during last week’s Show Me Literacies Summer Institute. The Gateway Writing Project, directed by Katie O’Daniels and Tracy Brosch in the College of Education at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, facilitated the four-day professional learning event on reading and writing through a Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Comprehensive Literacy State Development grant. The event cultivated literacy leadership with preK-12 teachers across content areas and helped create a professional learning community centered on literacy across the St. Louis region.

This photograph was taken by UMSL photographer August Jennewein and is the latest to be featured in Eye on UMSL.
