Women’s Soccer
UMSL got off to its first 2-0 start since 2014 with victories over Delta State and Saint Martin’s. Peyton McNabb and Jaycee Cotton each scored in the second half of Friday’s opener as the Tritons rallied for a 2-1 victory over Delta State, and Eylesa Kellam scored the lone goal in the 79th minute of a 1-0 victory over Saint Martin’s on Sunday. UMSL will play host to Washburn on Thursday and visit Indianapolis on Sunday.

Men’s Soccer
The Tritons dropped their season opener against Upper Iowa 3-0 on Friday, surrendering the first goal with less than a minute remaining in the first half before Upper Iowa added two more after the break. UMSL takes to the road Friday to face Newman University in Wichita, Kansas, before opening Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Sunday at Indianapolis.

Volleyball
The 21st-ranked UMSL volleyball team went 2-2 in the season-opening Ferris State Tournament, losing to No. 13 Hillsdale (3-2) and host Ferris State (3-0) on Friday before bouncing back with wins over St. Leo (3-1) and Davenport (3-0) on Saturday. Megan Woll set the program’s career digs record in the loss to Hillsdale. Charlotte Richards, the reigning GLVC player of the year, set a career-high in her first match at the Ferris State Invitational with 28 kills against Hillsdale College and tallied 79 kills in the four matches to claim a play on the all-tournament team. The Tritons will head to Evansville, Indiana, to take part in the Southern Indiana Tournament with matches against Wayne State, Southern Indiana, Alabama Huntsville and Davis & Elkins on Friday and Saturday.

Men’s and Women’s Cross Country
The men’s team took fourth place in the season-opening Walt Crawford Open, hosted by Eastern Illinois on Friday in Charleston, Illinois. Benjamin VandenBrink led the Tritons with a 17th-place individual finish in a time of 26 minutes, 12.4 seconds in the 8-kilometer race. Jacob Warner (17th) and Sam Savastino (34th) also placed among the top 35 individuals. Kayley Heeter paced the women’s team with a 26th-place individual finish in the 5-kilometer race, finishing in a time of 20:49.9. Both teams next compete at the Larry Young Invitational, hosted by Columbia College, on Sept. 18 in Columbia, Missouri.
