International Student Orientation 2023

New international students listened intently Monday morning at the University of Missouri–St. Louis during UMSL Global’s International Student Orientation. The week-long lineup of activities and informational sessions kicked off bright and early in the Millennium Student Center Century Rooms with a welcome address from Chancellor Kristin Sobolik and Provost Steven Berberich, a group photograph, a tour of campus and lunch.

Throughout the week, students will attend a variety of info sessions to help them succeed during their time at UMSL, covering topics ranging from library research, academic integrity and culture shock to taxes, working legally in the U.S. and maintaining their immigration status. The majority of the 68 international students starting at UMSL this semester are from India, in addition to several students hailing from The Bahamas, China, Finland, France, Nigeria, Russia, South Korea, Ukraine and Vietnam.

This photograph was taken by UMSL photographer August Jennewein and is the latest to be featured in Eye on UMSL.
