Luke Rinne, the assistant athletic director for media relations, introduces members of the University of Missouri–St. Louis men’s basketball team outside The Nosh on the lower level of the Millennium Student Center last Thursday afternoon during a a pep rally to celebrate their NCAA Division II Midwest Region championship.

Students, faculty and staff members and even a few alumni gathered to celebrate the success of the Tritons, who qualified for the national quarterfinals for the first time since the 1971-72 season.

They heard from Coach Bob Sundvold, Vice Chancellor for Strategic Enrollment Reggie Hill and a few members of the team describing this season’s success. UMSL is slated to take on top-ranked and unbeaten Nova Southeastern in the Elite Eight at 6 p.m. CDT Tuesday at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.
