Earlier this month, a group of 24 University of Missouri–St. Louis alumni, faculty, staff and students traveled to Las Vegas to volunteer at Super Bowl LVIII between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.
Karen Boleska, director of the sport management program at UMSL, organized the trip, in which 17 students and five recent graduates joined thousands of other volunteers from across the U.S. to contribute to the production of the biggest sporting event in the country. It’s the third consecutive year that Boleska has led an excursion to the Super Bowl.
The group worked in Super Bowl Experience and Stadium Fan Services at Allegiant Stadium, providing exceptional customer service to attendees, answering questions, managing crowds in high-traffic areas, overseeing the operation of fan attractions and activities and addressing any issues as they arose to ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone.
“The skills, memories and lessons from this experience will stay with them for years,” Boleska said. “It’s been an amazing journey, and I look forward to more opportunities to create lasting memories for students in the future.”
