Newly arrived international students gathered with members of the UMSL Global team for a group photo on Monday morning as they kicked off the annual Global Triton Welcome, the weeklong orientation event designed to help international students get acclimated to campus.
There are 108 new international students – 41 graduate students, 67 undergraduates – for the University of Missouri–St. Louis‘ fall semester, which starts next Monday. The group includes students with 34 majors — 15 graduate, 19 undergraduate — from 30 different countries. The three countries with the most students are the Bahamas, Taiwan and India.
As part of the Global Triton Welcome, the students are given campus tours and will be taking part in information sessions led by members of the UMSL Global staff on university and American life with a focus on topics such as visas, finances, ways to get involved on campus and academic programming.
