Piano students at the University of Missouri–St. Louis will celebrate the bicentennial of Frederic Chopin’s birth with an evening devoted to the legendary Polish composer and virtuoso pianist’s music. The “All Chopin Piano Concert” will begin at 7 p.m. April 8 in the E. Desmond and Mary Ann Lee Theater at UMSL’s Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center. The concert is free and open to the public.

National Public Radio recently called Chopin a “pianist and composer of matchless genius in the realm of keyboard music. As a pianist, his talents were beyond emulation … No one before or since has contributed as many significant works to the piano’s repertoire, or come closer to capturing its soul.”

The performers are students of Alla Voskoboynikova, coordinator of piano studies at UMSL.

The Touhill is on UMSL’s North Campus, One University Blvd. in St. Louis County (63121). The “All Chopin Piano Concert” is sponsored by the Department of Music at UMSL.
