MEN’S BASKETBALL
UMSL rallied from a 17-point deficit with nine minutes to play last Saturday at William Jewell College (Liberty, Mo.) to post a 67-62 victory. Junior Joshua McCoy scored 20 of his career-high 26 points in the second half, including 13 in the final 6:41 to help spur the comeback. The Tritons’ win came after a 70-63 loss at Rockhurst University (Kansas City, Mo.) on Thursday night. UMSL improves to 15-6 overall, including 10-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and owns a two-game lead in the West Division standings.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The UMSL women’s basketball team split its contests last weekend in the final road swing of the season. Junior Devonna Smith recorded 16 points and nine rebounds to lead the Tritons to a 71-50 victory at Rockhurst University last Thursday before the squad suffered a 62-54 defeat at William Jewell College on Saturday. UMSL rallied from several double-digit deficits in that loss and pulled within four points in the final two minutes, but couldn’t come up with the victory. UMSL is now 9-12 overall, including 4-9 in the GLVC.
