A recently released study has revealed that three professors at the University of Missouri–St. Louis ranked among the most prolific finance researchers in the nation.

The three UMSL faculty members are Nasser Arshadi, professor of finance and vice provost for research, Hung-Gay Fung, the Dr. Y.S. Tsiang Endowed Professor of Chinese Studies and Finance, and Edward C. Lawrence, professor of finance. According to the study, Arshadi and Lawrence were in the top 5 percent internationally of faculty who published the most research papers in the seven highest rated finance journals. In addition, Hung Gay Fung was in the top 2 percent nationally of published authors most frequently appearing in the 26 core finance journals.

The study, “Most Prolific Authors in the Finance Literature: 1959-2008,” is an update of a study originally published in 2005 in the Journal of Finance Literature. It was conducted by Philip L. Cooley, Prassel Distinguished Professor of Business at Trinity University in San Antonio, andJean L. Heck, associate professor of finance at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. It covered the research productivity of 17,601 finance professors in the United States and abroad over a 50-year period.
