MEN’S BASKETBALL
The men’s basketball team lost its first game of the season, a 77-74 verdict in double overtime, to Arkansas Tech University (Russellville) on Friday at the Comfort Inn/Drury Thanksgiving Classic tournament in Springfield, Mo., but bounced back to record a 90-76 victory over the University of Central Oklahoma (Edmond) on Saturday. The Tritons tied a school record with 15 three-pointers in the win. UMSL began the week with an 83-54 win over Robert Morris University (Springfield, Ill.) on Nov. 20. The Tritons are 4-1 on the season and will host Lincoln University (Jefferson City, Mo.) on Saturday.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The women’s basketball team lost a 56-55 decision at Christian Brothers University (Memphis, Tenn.) on Nov. 20. The Lady Bucs outscored the Tritons 14-5 in the final 7 minutes to garner the win. UMSL junior Hazaria Washington posted 17 points and 10 rebounds as UMSL slipped to 1-1 on the season. The Tritons return to action tonight, hosting Missouri Baptist University (Creve Coeur) at 5 p.m.
