Promoting the Metropolitan Rate Program in Illinois, the University of Missouri-St. Louis has launched its first Facebook marketing campaign touting the benefit of a UMSL education at in-state Missouri rates.

“Through this special program, undergraduate students – who live in the Illinois counties of Jersey, Madison, Monroe and St. Clair – receive nearly 40 percent off their tuition when attending UMSL,” said Greg McCalley, associate vice provost for student affairs. “It’s a great deal for Metro East students. They gain an exceptional metropolitan education while paying in-state tuition and fees at UMSL.”

Undergraduate applications from students who live in the Metro East are reviewed for eligibility automatically. No additional application is required.

The test market campaign was created by the Office of University Marketing and Communications and is targeted at the 18- to 25-year-old demographic in the four Illinois counties eligible for in-state rates. It will run through fall class registration.

UMSL also has used more traditional means this summer to make the community aware of the outstanding educational opportunities and scholarships available at UMSL this fall. UMSL messages were placed in the Riverfront Times, The St. Louis American, St. Louis Business Journal, St. Louis Commerce Magazine and St. Louis Post-Dispatch, as well as on radio stations St. Louis Public Radio | 90.7 KWMU, KSLZ (107.7 FM), KPNT (105.7 FM) and WHHL (104.1 FM).
