UMSL Tritons weekly rewind

The Tritons men's basketball team went 2-1 last week, beating Webster on the road before splitting a pair of games in the Marriott St. Louis Airport Classic.

Junior guard Steven Davis (22) knocked down eight 3-pointers and totaled 26 points in the UMSL men’s basketball team’s 72-64 victory last Monday at Webster. He finished one 3-pointer shy of equaling the Tritons’ record.

Men’s Basketball
UMSL posted a 2-1 record last week, picking up a 72-64 road win at Webster before splitting its two games as the host of the Marriott St. Louis Airport Classic. UMSL lost a 72-46 decision to East Central but rebounded with a 57-51 win over Missouri Western in the tournament. Junior Steven Davis averaged 13.7 points per game, which included a 26-point outing at Webster behind eight 3-pointers. The Tritons (4-3) begin Great Lakes Valley Conference play this week with contests at Drury and Missouri S&T on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.

Women’s Basketball
UMSL went 1-1 last week, defeating Puerto Rico-Mayaguez 66-49 last Tuesday in its home opener before falling to Arkansas Tech 63-54 last Saturday. Junior Jordan Fletcher averaged 19.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 77.8 percent from the field. The Tritons (3-2) travel to Drury and Missouri S&T on Thursday and Saturday, respectively, to open GLVC play.
