Pat Ries (12) helped UMSL improve to 3-1 in GLVC play with a goal and an assist in Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Wisconsin-Parkside. Ries has a team-best six goals this season.

Volleyball
UMSL picked up another pair of victories last week, defeating Bellarmine 3-1 on Thursday in its home and Great Lakes Valley Conference opener before traveling across town on Saturday to sweep Maryville. The Tritons improved to 9-1, the program’s best start since 1987. Sophomore Selena Nolte averaged 3.00 kills and 0.71 blocks per set while senior Madyson Abeyta averaged 6.29 assists and 1.57 digs per set. UMSL (9-1, 2-0 GLVC) travels to Rockhurst and Drury on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Men’s Soccer
The Tritons bounced back from a 3-2 overtime loss at Indianapolis on Friday night to garner a 2-1 victory at Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday. Senior Pat Ries had a goal and assist in the victory. Donald Link scored his first goal of the season with four minutes remaining in regulation to force overtime in Friday’s loss. Senior Pat Ries had a goal and an assist in Sunday’s victory. UMSL (3-2-1, 3-1 GLVC) returns home on Friday to host Lewis before welcoming Illinois Springfield on Sunday.

Women’s Soccer
Sophomore Ally Milnes scored her first collegiate goal 3 minutes and 30 seconds into the second half, and junior Lexi Norton added another tally as UMSL pulled out a 2-1 victory over Wisconsin-Parkside Sunday to secure its first GLVC victory. The Tritons began the weekend with a 1-0 setback at Indianapolis on Friday with the Greyhounds winning on an own goal. UMSL (2-3-1, 1-3 GLVC) returns home on Friday to host Lewis before welcoming Illinois Springfield on Sunday.

Men’s Tennis
Senior Alberto Maza earned runner-up finishes in the B flight singles and doubles to lead the Tritons at the ITA Midwest Regional hosted by Grand Valley State Friday through Sunday in Allendale, Michigan. Freshman Karl Heinrichs advanced to the semifinals of the B flight singles, while sophomore Milan Kovacs won the B singles consolation. UMSL returns to the courts Sept. 29 when it plays host to Saint Louis University.

Women’s Golf
UMSL opened its season with a runner-up finish after shooting a combined score of 597 at the UIndy Invitational, held last Monday and Tuesday. The Tritons carded rounds of 298 and 299, finishing seven strokes behind team champion Indianapolis in the 15-team field. Senior Stefaniya Ivanova tied for second individually to earn all-tournament honors with a score of 146. UMSL will compete at the NCAA Preview Sept. 25-26 in Houston.
