Senior point guard Elijah Watson broke a 42-year-old school record when he handed out 14 assists in the Tritons 78-56 win over Webster. Bob Bone previously held the record with 13 assists in a game in 1975.

Volleyball
UMSL saw its season end on Friday with a 3-1 loss to Rockhurst in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament quarterfinals. The Tritons won the opening set before the Hawks rallied back. Senior Madyson Abeyta recorded 47 assists and 15 digs in her final collegiate match, while sophomore Selena Nolte, a first-team All-GLVC selection, had a match-high 16 kills. UMSL ends its season with a 22-8 record, the program’s most wins since 2008.

Women’s Basketball
The Tritons scored the game’s final 10 points en route to a 65-55 win at Kentucky State on Saturday in their only action of the week. Senior Shawnta Johnson recorded 15 points and nine rebounds, and freshman Alex LaPorta notched her second double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. The team (2-1) will host Lincoln on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Men’s Basketball
UMSL went 1-1 last week, earning a 78-56 win over Webster in Tuesday’s home opener before falling to Missouri Southern on Saturday. Senior Elijah Watson broke the 42-year-old single game assists record by dishing out 14 against the Gorloks, while senior Steven Davis scored 19 points. The Tritons couldn’t stop Missouri Southern from pulling away behind 66.7 percent shooting in the second half in Saturday’s 74-58 loss on Saturday. Watson scored a season-high 17 points, while adding six assists and five rebounds. UMSL (2-2) is at Indiana State on Wednesday in an exhibition game before playing host to Robert Morris-Peoria at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Men’s and Women’s Swimming
The Tritons’ women’s swimming team won 13 events en route to capturing the team title at the Miner Invite, hosted by Missouri S&T on Friday and Saturday. Sophomore Merel Visser picked up five wins, including individual victories in the 500 and 1650-yard freestyles and the 100 and 200-yard butterflys as the Tritons (754 points) bested Ouachita Baptist (721) and Williams Baptist (484) in the team race. On the men’s side, junior Radoslaw Chupka won the 200-yard backstroke by .04 seconds. The Tritons also received a runner-up finish from junior Esteban Pombo in the 400-yard individual medley. UMSL was third in the four-team event. UMSL returns to the pool December 16-19 at the Delta State University Christmas Invite in Cleveland, Miss.
