Chuck Korr, professor emeritus of history at UMSL, has written extensively on sports, including the book "The End of Baseball as We Knew It: The Players Union, 1960-81."

Today marks the opening day for the St. Louis Cardinals’ 2011 season. What’s practically a local holiday is also a couple of other things: the first day of the last season on perennial MVP favorite Albert Pujols’ current Cardinals contract and the return to Cardinals broadcasts on KMOX (1120 AM).

Chuck Korr, professor emeritus of history at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, discussed both topics with the local media. Korr’s take on baseball finances can be read on the website for the St. Louis Beacon. And he could be heard on KMOX talking about the role the radio station has played in creating Cardinals fans across the U.S.
