The College of Nursing at the University of Missouri-St. Louis will hold the Elizabeth McIntosh and Jerry Durham-College of Nursing Alumni Endowed Lecture in Nursing Science at 4 p.m. April 15 in the Century Rooms of the Millennium Student Center at UMSL. The lecture, “Leveraging Nursing Leadership: Needs and Opportunities in Health Reform,” will be presented by Jennie Chin Hansen, chief executive officer of the American Geriatrics Society and immediate past president of AARP.

Hansen joined the American Geriatrics Society in 2005 after 25 years with On Lok, Inc, a nonprofit family of organizations. In 2010, she served as an Institutes of Medicine member on the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation on the Future of Nursing. She currently is a board member of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.

The Elizabeth McIntosh and Jerry Durham College of Nursing Alumni Endowed Lecture in Nursing Science was established in 1999 in honor of the original director of the Barnes School of Nursing, once housed at UMSL, and the former dean of the College of Nursing, respectively.

The free, 30-minute lecture will be followed by a question and answer session, and a reception.
