Cartharn averaged 21.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, while leading the UMSL Tritons to a pair of wins last week.

The win came during UMSL’s annual Pack the Stands event at Chuck Smith Court. The women’s team lost to Quincy 47-42.
The University of Missouri–St. Louis will kick off its Jubilee, a yearlong celebration of UMSL’s 50th anniversary, with a spectacular evening of entertainment and fun on Feb. 1. University of Missouri–St. Louis junior Joe Atkisson competed in three events in October, averaging 74.4 over eight rounds en route to being named the Great Lake Valley Conference Men’s Golf Player of the Month. Atkisson was selected by a vote from the league’s men’s golf coaches. He’s only the second ever UMSL Tritons men’s golfer to earn the distinction.

The University of Missouri–St. Louis men’s soccer team wrapped a successful season Sunday, ending with a last-minute defeat in the Great Lakes Valley Conference championship game. Two days earlier, the GLVC honored two UMSL Tritons players for their contributions over the course of the season. Senior goalkeeper Patrick Ream and sophomore back Tony Auck were named to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference Third Team.
Liz Drennan, sophomore forward on the University of Missouri–St. Louis women’s soccer team, ended her season on a high note. She scored both goals in the UMSL Tritons’ 2-1 overtime victory over Maryville University (Town and Country, Mo.) in the team’s Oct. 24 season finale. Drennan netted the game-winner just 38 seconds into the extra period.

With Josh McMillian in place as the school’s first-ever strength and conditioning coach and a brand new state-of-the-art weight facility, the resources are plentiful.
Patrick Ream, a senior goalkeeper for the University of Missouri–St. Louis men’s soccer team, held opponents scoreless over 188 minutes and 42 seconds of play last week. The two shutouts also ran his streak to four consecutive games and led to him being named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. He is only the second men’s soccer player to earn the distinction.

The University of Missouri–St. Louis women’s tennis team opened the fall portion of its schedule Friday with the weekendlong Lynn Imergoot Invitational, hosted by Washington University in St. Louis. Under the direction of 11th year head coach Rick Gyllenborg, the UMSL Tritons returned three players from last year’s squad, which finished with a 9-7 overall record.
The University of Missouri–St. Louis women’s golf team has concluded each of the last three seasons in the NCAA East Regional, making the program one of the school’s most decorated in recent years. The UMSL Tritons began their trek toward a fourth straight NCAA tournament berth earlier this week with a ninth-place finish at the Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate, hosted by Carson-Newman College in Sevleirville, Tenn.
Thanks to Express Scripts, the University of Missouri–St. Louis’ carbon footprint just got smaller. With funding from the company, UMSL has completed its first solar panel installation to generate electricity. The roof of UMSL’s Mark Twain Athletic & Fitness Center, just across the street from Express Scripts headquarters, features a 25-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system that converts sunlight into electricity.
The 2012 University of Missouri–St. Louis men’s golf season teed off on Sept. 9 with a win over Maryville University (Town and Country, Mo.) to retain the Arch Cup. UMSL returned four players from last year’s squad and will once again be under the direction Troy Halterman, in his fourth year as the program’s head coach.
Under the direction of 17th-year head coach Rick Gyllenborg, the University of Missouri–St. Louis Tritons have returned five players from last year’s men’s tennis team, which finished with a 10-8 overall record.
