UMSL scholar received the Goodeve Medal

David Ronen, professor of logistics and operations management at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, was awarded the 2008 Goodeve Medal from the Operational Research Society.

The medal is awarded in recognition of the most outstanding contributions to the philosophy, theory or practice of operational research published each year.

With more than 30 years of experience working in the field of logistics and operations management, Ronen said he’s honored by the recognition.

“To have the importance and quality of my work recognized is very rewarding,” he said.
Ronen’s primary area of expertise is the application of quantitative tools and information technology to solving practical business logistics problems. Since 1980, he’s been involved in developing logistic management tools for major corporations, such as Chevron, Mobil Oil and IBP.

He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel and his doctoral degree from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
