Erika Gibb, assistant professor of physics and astronomy, was interviewed about young star systems. The interview aired March 1 on WAMC Northeast Public Radio.

Barbara Harbach, professor of music, composed “American Solstice,” which was chosen as a winner for the Ohio-based Women in Music-Columbus competition. A mention of the award, Harbach’s upcoming album and a photo of the professor ran March 4 in the Ladue News. Harbach created a yearlong festival focusing on women in the arts, which was the inspiration for Women in the Arts Festival in New York. Matt Henry, assistant teaching professor of music, conducted a percussion workshop at the January Missouri Music Educators Association Conference in Osage Beach, Mo. A photo of Henry leading the workshop was featured in the spring issue of Missouri School Music Magazine. Henry performed during a segment called “Building Blocks of Jazz.” The performance aired March 11 on HEC-TV.

Beth Huebner, associate professor of criminology and criminal justice, was interviewed about gang activity in north St. Louis County. Terry Jones, professor of political science, was quoted in an article about the economy’s effect on a proposed St. Louis County sales tax increase to benefit Metro, the owner and operator of the St. Louis metropolitan region’s public transportation system. Jones is scheduled to discuss his research, “Measuring Prejudice, The role of Race in Politics,” at an upcoming meeting of the Bonhomme Township Democrat Club. Guoqiang Li, assistant professor of optometry, received two grants totaling $640,000 for vision science research.
