Sandra J. E. Langeslag, associate professor of psychological sciences, spoke with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about the science of love for Valentine’s Day. Langeslag explained how romantic love affects cognition and how she has been able to demonstrate the relationship between love and internal memory and attention processes through studies using brain scans.

Leader Publications highlighted Andrew Brody, a junior majoring sport management, and his experience volunteering at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. Karen Boleska, the director of the sport management program, has led a trip to the Super Bowl since 2022, where a group of UMSL alumni, students and staff work to help produce the biggest sporting event in the country.

Chancellor Kristin Sobolik was among the local leaders featured on St. Louis Magazine’s St. Louis Business 500 list. Of Sobolik, the publication stated, “At UMSL, Sobolik is reimagining the school’s trajectory. In 2024, the university secured unprecedented funding from the state to support its Transform UMSL project that will help upgrade its 350-acre campus. UMSL also recently received $15 million in capital funding to launch its School of Engineering and an $8 million grant from the James S. McDonnell Foundation to help grow the school.” Shu Schiller, Dean of the College of Business Administration, and Scott Morris, Director of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center, were also recognized on the Business 500 list.
