KSDK aired a segment about the installation of a new bus bench along Natural Bridge Road near the entrance to the UMSL campus at University Avenue on Wednesday morning. The new bench, branded with “Enjoy the Ride,” was the 12th installed across the St. Louis region through Citizens for Modern Transit’s placemaking program, “The Story of a Bench.” “This newest addition to the UMSL transit package is just very exciting to us,” Chief of Staff Adella Jones said. “It is in UMSL red, and we’re real, real happy about that, and our customers and our staff and our students that use the system, it is a real comfort for them. It is a welcoming feature of transit on our campus, so we’re really excited to be part of this.”
Temidayo Akenroye, associate professor of supply chains and analytics, co-authored an article for the World Economic Forum on the logistical challenges of fighting Ebola. Akenroye and co-author Marcia Mkansi argue that advances in diagnostics, treatments and public health interventions are only effective if they can actually reach affected communities quickly and reliably.
Michael Cosmopoulos, the Hellenic Government-Karakas Foundation Professor of Greek Studies and professor of archaeology, appeared on an episode of National Geographic’s documentary TV series, “Lost Treasures of Ancient Greece.” Cosmopoulos commented on his archaeological excavation of Iklaina, Greece, and what it reveals about the Bronze Age city.
