A recent St. Louis Business Journal Table of Experts conversation brought together three higher education leaders including Reggie Hill, vice chancellor for strategic enrollment and career advancement at UMSL, to discuss the St. Louis region’s workforce development needs. The roundtable focused on the need for more flexible credentialing, earlier career exposure, stronger public-private partnerships and a more coordinated regional approach to workforce development.

The St. Louis Business Journal named Shu Schiller, dean of the Ed G. Smith College of Business at UMSL, and Lucia Lohmann, UMSL alum and president of the Missouri Botanical Garden, to its 2026 list of Most Influential Business Women. The program has recognized 530 women over more than 25 years. This year’s class will be celebrated at an August luncheon.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch featured news of G Schmiedeke, UMSL music student, winning the Remington R. Williams Award. Since 2023, the University of Missouri Board of Curators has bestowed the award to seven students annually in memory of the late Remington Williams. It honors Williams’ legacy and recognizes exceptional student leaders who exemplify and share many of his leadership qualities.
