Summer school enrollment at the University of Missouri–St. Louis is running 6 percent ahead of last summer – with lots of time left to register for three of UMSL’s six summer sessions. UMSL had 4,700 students registered for classes that began May 17.

“Our unique mix of sessions allows current and visiting students to build a class schedule that meets their individual needs,” said Greg McCalley, associate vice provost for student affairs. “Registration is ongoing, and we expect that more students will take advantage of this opportunity to keep moving toward their degrees.”

The three summer sessions which have yet to start are:

* One eight-week session [June 14-Aug. 7]
* Two four-week sessions [June 14-July 10 and July 12-Aug. 7]

McCalley said UMSL offers courses to undergraduate and graduate students.

“This is a great resource for our current students, but we enroll students from other institutions who are home [in St. Louis] for the summer,” McCalley said. “We’re also seeing more incoming freshmen who want to get a head start on their college career. That’s very encouraging.”
