Caspar Stracke’s video “No Damage” is a composition made of fragments from more than 80 different feature and documentary films shot over eight decades that show the architecture of New York City. The film is the latest in Gallery 210’s video series.

The exhibit will open Oct. 21 and remain on display through Dec. 4 in Gallery 210 at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

The architectural scenes from “No Damage” are lifted out of their original context and juxtaposed in groups. The resulting new scenes reveal their emotional implications: grandeur, glamour, the wake of modernism, post-modernism and, most recently, post-9/11 sentimentalism.

Caspar Stracke is a German video artist based in New York. He works with film, video and digital media. His work has been shown throughout New York – including at the Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum and Anthology Film Archives – and in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Germany, Canada and Japan.

Gallery 210 is in the Telecommunity Center at UMSL, One University Blvd. in St. Louis County (63121). Regular hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
