Can space save the Earth? Gregg Maryniak will discuss this question at his lecture of the same name at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 12 in 121 Research Building at the University of Missouri–St. Louis.

Maryniak is the vice president of energy and aerospace at the St. Louis Science Center and director of the James S. McDonnell Planetarium. He also is an X PRIZE Foundation board member. X PRIZE is committed to creating and managing prizes that drive innovators to solve some of the greatest challenges facing the world today.

Maryniak will ask if Apollo astronauts returned with information that holds the key to the survival of humans and why China and India are now engaged in a new moon race.

The lecture is sponsored by the Center for International Studies at UMSL, the Department of Physics and Astronomy at UMSL and the University of Missouri–St. Louis.
