Experience one of the great mavericks of African music. Senegalese superstar Cheikh Lô brings his distinctive sound to the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center next month.

The performance starts at 7:30 p.m. April 12 in the E. Desmond and Mary Ann Lee Theater at the Touhill. The doors open at 6:40 p.m. for a pre-show discussion.

Cheikh Lô draws influence from the music of West and Central Africa, as well as Cuban and flamenco. Lô is a superb singer and songwriter as well as a distinctive guitarist, percussionist and drummer. He’s touring in support of his fifth album “Jamm.”
