"New Dance Horizons"

Dance St. Louis will open its 47th season with a quartet of collaborations. The nonprofit dance presenter paired four nationally renowned choreographers with St. Louis-area dance companies to create clever and moving world premiere performances.

The new choreographed dances will debut at the dance concert “New Dance Horizons,” which will be presented by PNC Arts Alive and Dance St. Louis at 8 p.m. Oct. 5 and 2 and 8 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. Matinee tickets are $30 and evening tickets are $40.

The choreographer-dance company pairings include the following:

Gina Patterson with MADCO, the professional dance company in residence at the Touhill at UMSL
Pam Tanowitz with Saint Louis Ballet, the region’s largest ballet company
Jessica Lang with Common Thread Contemporary Dance Company, St. Louis’ newest troupe
Victoria Marks with Leverage Dance Theater, a collaborative group of local and guest artists formerly known as aTrek Dance Collective

Following its UMSL debut, the “New Dance Horizons” production will go on a five-stop tour throughout Missouri and Illinois.

A free “Speaking of Dance” talk will be given in the Terrace Lobby in the Touhill 45 minutes prior to each performance.
