Freshman pitcher Hannah Perryman of the University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced Feb. 18 by the league office.
Perryman, who is majoring in criminology and criminal justice, recorded two wins in the circle for the UMSL Tritons as the team opened its season at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Leadoff Classic in Tucson, Ariz., when they played five contests against teams ranked in the NFCA Preseason Top 25.
The young hurler was impressive in her collegiate debut, tossing a complete game shutout against No. 16 ranked University of Central Oklahoma (Edmond) on Feb. 15. Perryman allowed just three hits and struck out 10, including reigning NCAA Division II Player of the Year Kacie Edwards twice, and once with the bases loaded.
She picked up her second win on Feb. 17 as the Tritons defeated No. 2 ranked University of California-San Diego 11-1. Perryman tossed all five innings, giving up just one run on four hits, while striking out four.
On the week, she finished 2-2 in the circle, recording a 1.20 ERA in 24 1/3 innings pitched, while striking out 30.
