Sophomore Tayler Hoag of the University of Missouri–St. Louis women’s golf team has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Month for September, following a vote from the league’s head coaches.

For the month, Hoag posted a scoring average of 75.4 and won two individual titles.

She opened the month by winning the Prairie State Preview, hosted by Lewis on Sept. 7, by shooting a round of 73. Hoag’s performance also helped the UMSL Tritons win the four-team event with a 312.

Hoag, who is majoring in business administration with an emphasis in marketing, then recorded a 10th place finish at the Screaming Eagle Invitational, held at Cambridge Golf Club in Evansville, Ind., on Sept. 15-16. She shot an 81 in her first round before bouncing back to card a 74 on the second day, finishing 11-over par. Hoag helped UMSL record a third place finish in the 13-team event with a 633 (319-314).

The Eden Prairie, Minn., native followed that performance up by earning all-tournament honors at the UIndy Fall Invite, held Sept. 22-23, by tying for eighth place. Hoag fired rounds of 80 and 73 to finish nine strokes over par. As a team, the Tritons placed ninth out of 18 teams, shooting 646 (325-321).

Hoag concluded the month by winning her second individual tournament, taking top honors at the Gilda’s Club Laker Invitational, hosted by Grand Valley State, on Sept. 28-29. She shot a 147 (77-70), finishing seven strokes better than runner-up Libby Berens of Ferris State (79-75 – 154). Hoag helped UMSL to a fifth place finish with a score of 649 (327-322) in 13-team field.

This is Hoag’s second career monthly honor from the conference, having also won the honor for April of 2013.

UMSL will close out the fall portion of its schedule this Saturday-Sunday, hosting the Oak Terrace Fall Invitational in Pana, Ill.
