The University of Missouri–St. Louis women’s golf team recorded a fourth place finish at the 2014 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship, held at Annbriar Golf Club.
The UMSL Tritons entered the final 18 holes in seventh place, but cut 10 strokes off the team’s score in the final day’s extreme wind to move up. UMSL carded a 646 (328-318), 28 strokes behind league champion Indianapolis (3014-318) in the 14-team field.
Sophomore Tayler Hoag placed third individually to earn All-GLVC honors for the second straight season. Hoag, who is majoring in business administration with a marketing emphasis, fired a 152 (75-77), seven strokes behind medalist Anastasia Carter of Southern Indiana (70-75 – 145).
Junior Bailey Hopper was also named to the All-GLVC team for her play throughout the season. Hopper, who is majoring in business administration with a finance emphasis, tied for 19th place in the GLVC Championship with a 163 (82-81).
Southern Indiana was the team runner-up (317-310 – 627), while Drury placed third (313-325 – 638). Illinois Springfield rounded out the top five with a fifth place finish (326-323 – 649).
Other UMSL scores include senior Daniela Viotti (85-79 – 164; T24th), freshman Miranda Rohlfing (87-81 – 168; T33rd) and senior Gabriela Murcia (86-84 – 170; T37th).
UMSL has been selected for its fifth straight NCAA East Regional. The Tritons have been ranked No. 7 in the regional rankings.
